Greater Christchurch Schools Network
The Greater Christchurch Schools Network is an alignment of a range of developments within Christchurch, nationally and internationally that can now make possible the development of a schools’ network in greater Christchurch.
The official website of the GCSN community can be found here.
The elements of the alignment come from the development of a state of the art open access $50 million fibre network within Christchurch (Enable Networks), the commitment of the new National-led Government to provide $34 million for upgrading internal school networks, and the development of school loops based on fibre throughout New Zealand.
The three partners in the development of a cyberinfrastructure for schools are: Canterbury Development Corporation;Enable Networks; and Core Education, all based in Christchurch.
The GCSN project has the support of the Primary, Intermediate and Secondary Schools Principals Associations, as well as the Ministry of Education and key educational institutions.
